National Sticker Day
Today is #NationalStickerDay! Celebrated on 13th January in honour of R. Stanton Avery, who was born on this day in 1907.
R. Stanton Avery invented the modern version of the self-sticking, peel-off sticker in 1935. Before then, European merchants in the 1880’s were some of the first to stick labels to their products in an effort to promote their wares to passers by, using gum paste to get the labels to adhere & stick: hence the name ‘stickers.’
